acarophobia [-fō′bē·ə] a morbid dread of tiny parasites or the delusion that tiny insects such as mites have invaded the skin. acarophobia [ak″ah-ro-fo´be-ah] irrational fear of mites or of other minute objects, which may be animate (insects, worms) or inanimate (pins, needles).
