taxoid drugs

taxoid drugs

Anticancer drugs such as PACLITAXEL and docetaxel extracted from the needles of the yew Taxus baccata . These drugs enhance cellular microtubule assembly and interfere with the depolymerization of tubulin. The result is that cells cannot form the normal mitotic spindle and are unable to divide. As with most other anticancer modalities, the effect is greatest on the most rapidly-dividing cells.
