pertaining to a clinical trial or other experiment in which no subject knows whether he or she is receiving particular treatments or even lack of treatment (see placebo), but the administrator does have that information.

A testing procedure in which the administrators do not tell the subjects if they are being given a test treatment or a control treatment in order to avoid bias in the results.
