homotherm

any warm-blooded animal (mammal or bird). A homoiotherm can maintain its body temperature within a narrow range, usually above that of its surroundings (see CORE TEMPERATURE despite large variation in environmental temperature. It may be maintained continually or for limited periods only. Compare POIKILOTHERM.
