cov·er test

a test used for objective demonstration of ocular deviation in strabismus; may be performed by two methods: the cover-uncover test and the alternate cover test.

cover test

A test for heterophoria in which one eye is covered for several days, followed by measurement of the relative fusional vergence amplitude, the amount of prism a person can overcome and still maintain single (i.e., stereo) vision.

cover test

A test for squint (STRABISMUS). When the subject is looking at a small near object and the non-squinting eye is covered, the other eye will move to continue viewing. This repeatable observed movement indicates that a genuine strabismus is present.
