corticosteroid drugs

Drugs identical to, or that simulate the actions of, the natural steroid hormones of the outer zone (cortex) of the adrenal glands. Modern synthetic steroids are often many times more powerful than the natural hormones hydrocortisone and corticosterone. They include prednisolone, methylprednisolone, triamcinolone, dexamethasone, betamethasone, deoxycortone and fludrocortisone.
