clinical oncology

A specialty which, as defined in the UK, encompasses the non-surgical aspects of cancer care, including therapeutic administration of ionising radiation (radiotherapy) and cytotoxic chemotherapy. Clinical oncologists are major players in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings that meet regularly to discuss site-specific malignancies.
