bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria

The most common form (OMIM:300388) of polymicrogyria, a malformation of the cerebral cortex in which the normal gyri are replaced by multiple small, partly fused gyri separated by shallow sulci, resulting in mild mental retardation, epilepsy and pseudobulbar palsy, and difficulties with speech and feeding.

Molecular pathology
Defects of SRPX2, which encodes a secreted protein that may play in the development of speech and language centres in the brain, cause bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria.
