ankle/brachial blood pressure index

A simple clinical test of a patient’s risk of future myocardial infaction and cardiovascular “reserve”. In the ABI, the blood pressure is measured in the upper arm and at the ankle. Patients with a significantly lower BP at the ankles are at higher risk of myocardial meltdown.
