al·co·hol de·hy·dro·gen·ase (ADH),
(al'kŏ-hol dē-hi-droj'e-nās), An oxidoreductase that reversibly converts an alcohol to an aldehyde (or ketone) with NAD
+ as the hydride acceptor; for example, ethanol + NAD
+ ⇄ acetaldehyde + NADH.
