RNA-mediated interference

RNA-mediated interference (RNAi)

mechanism for gene-specific silencing and for analysis of gene function in a sequence-specific manner. It occurs in a variety of organisms, possibly serving to protect them from viruses (see VIRUS and suppress TRANSPOSON activity An intermediate in the process is SHORT INTERFERING RNA.
