PLAG1
PLAG1
A gene on chromosome 8q12 that encodes PLAG1, a zinc finger transcription factor that is consistently rearranged in pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary gland. PLAG1 activation results in upregulation of IGFII, leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation in cultured cells; other genes upregulated by PLAG1 include CRLF1, CRABP2, CRIP2 and PIGF.
Molecular pathology
PLAG1 overexpression occurs in pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary gland, lipoblastoma and hepatoblastoma, and co-operates with CBFB-MYH11, a fusion gene in myeloid leukaemia.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
