IR(ME)R

Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000. An acronym for the 1988 UK Department of Health regulations that formed the basis for protecting persons undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic ionising radiation. POPUMET was superseded by The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IR(ME)R), which incorporate into UK law most of the provisions of the European Medical Exposures Directive, which delineates protection measures for patients exposed to ionising radiation.
