An uncommon—1/10,000 people—form of acute glomerulonephritis characterised by heavy proteinuria, microaneurysms, HTN
Associations Acute glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, renal failure, ESRD; CG may be 2º to post-streptococcal GN, infectious endocarditis, sepsis, hepatitis, multisystem disease, cryoglobulinemia, Goodpasture’s disease, relapsing polychondritis, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, SLE, disseminated vasculitis, polyarteritis nodosa, Wegener’s granulomatosis, lung CA, lymphoma, and others, hydrocarbon exposure, or CG may be superimposed on other primary glomerulopathies—e.g., membranoproliferative-mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis, membranous glomerulonephritis, IgA nephropathy, focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis, anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody disease
Prognosis Without therapy, 80–90% eventually require dialysis
