A gene on chromosome 19q13.1 that encodes a sulfotransferase which catalyses the transfer of sulfate to position 4 of non-reducing N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) residues in N-glycans and O-glycans, a required step for synthesis of the glycoprotein hormones LH (luteinising hormone) and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone).
