BIRC7
BIRC7
A gene on chromosome 20q13.3 that encodes a member of the apoptosis inhibitor protein (IAP) family, which contains a single copy of a baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR), which is essential for its inhibitory activity and caspase interactions, as well as a RING-type zinc finger domain, which may enhance its anti-apoptotic activity. BIRC7 protects cells against apoptosis induced by TNF, adriamycin, etoposide, staurosporine and other chemicals by activating MAPK8/JNK1, and possibly also MAPK9/JNK2.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
