ANGPT2
ANGPT2
A gene on chromosome 8q23.1 that encodes angiopoietin 2, a secreted glycoprotein which, like other angiopoietins, binds to endothelial cell-specific tyrosine-protein kinase receptor. Angiopoietin 2 is an antagonist of angiopoietin 1 (ANGPT1) and endothelial TEK tyrosine kinase (TIE-2/TEK); it disrupts ANGPT1’s vascular remodelling activity and may induce endothelial cell apoptosis.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
