Q. How you all manage with the taste of the Chinese medicine?

Insomnia is severe in me and the allopathic medicines were not able to control it. On my friends advice I met Chinese Medical Practitioner. He has prescribed me some herbal medicines which are bitter in taste. I am fed up with the taste of the medicine that I am not comfortable having it next time. How you all manage with the taste of the Chinese medicine?
AThe benefit of Chinese medicine is good and you must have them. You can take honey after you take your medicines. This can bring back your taste. I am also taking Chinese herbal medicines for my nervous problem. They are very bitter. To reduce on their bitter taste I take honey or sometimes sugar cubes. Taking honey makes me feel good from the bitter taste of these medicines and taking these medicines helps me in getting better from my nervous problem.

Q. I need some advice on how to manage fibromyalgia?

My elder brother is diagnosed with fibromyalgia. He was complaining of excess pain in belly area and headache with disturbed stomach. This made him depressed. His performance at work also declined to a considerable level. His muscles are too tight and this can be felt when touched. After the diagnosis for about a year he is now confirmed as having fibromyalgia. I need some advice on how to manage fibromyalgia?
AHe must start light exercises like walking and jogging and if possible swimming. He must eat a good diet with only raw foods as much as possible. He must do meditation to calm his mind to get a good sleep. Massage will be helpful in reducing his pain. Living in a stressful environment may trigger his pain to a high level. Keep him happy and this will help him to feel relaxed. Do regularly follow the medicines with good life style and food pattern.

Q. Apart from medicines, what are the other ways to manage fibromyalgia?

AFor people living with fibromyalgia, relief comes not only from the medicines but also from the combination of medical and non-medical therapies. It is also better to call it as Lifestyle therapy than non-medical therapy. Good sleep, balanced diet with exclusion of spicy food, regular exercise and occupational change is considered to manage fibromyalgia. Some of the non-medical therapy such as acupuncture, Chiropractic or osteopathic treatments and Hypnotherapy and massage therapy is used to treat fibromyalgia.

Q. How can I live and manage my life with son being diagnosed as Autistic?

I saw some symptoms of Autism at my son, and scheduled a meeting with a pediatric psychologist to see if that’s true. If so (and I hope I’m wrong!!) – how do you cope with that?!?
A1You are not alone in this. There are more people on your boat then you think, and they can help you go through with it!
Don’t stay alone!
Here is some forums and organizations that might help:
and there’s also a community here in Imedix that will be glad to help and talk to you!
A2I myself needed to face that diagnosis and I can tell you it’s not easy. This is something that will have consequences for the rest of your life, not just your son’s. so first of all you need to know that it’s alright to feel that way. And you are not a “horrible mother” just because you think about your own life and not just your son. And don’t forget that there is a reason that it’s called “Autistic spectrum” – there are varieties to it. You don’t always get a full Autism.

Q. Your topic-manager: Did you have today a little crisis like me?

As some of you already know, I use at the moment and since 3 months no medications anymore, but I told you also, that I have at home my little pharmacy for "just in case". Two days ago I slept not at all during the whole night. There was an emergency case from USA - a member from another topic. The dear lady was in panic, it seemed so during the chat. So I called her and she was thankful 12h later. Today I had a little panic-attack too. I have an urgent letter to write and also a document to prepare. In fact I would be able to do both things in the same time and so my body starts to feel a stress. My heart feels like a very hot big potato, my head is warm too and I can't concentrate me for just one subject. What have I done today to fix that?
A1I forgot to tell you. I smoked today during the long moments in Zurich for the first time again 2 cigarettes after 3 years interruption. Now the package Marlboro is a member of my private pharmacy, then it helps me to become calm when I'm in panic. What helps me in such moments too, is some water with gaz. When I stopped smoking in 1996, I drunk always some water, when I had the desire to eat something - mostly something sweety. After 3 weeks it was for me not anymore necessary to drink water. Today I can smoke a cigarette or more and stop instantly afterwards during years. Today I used the cigarettes as medication in moments of panic I had. Perhaps for some of you it is a piece of chocolate, or an apple or some vinagre. You must check it out and learn what your body likes, how it reacts or what helps your behaviour and condition to go forward.

A2I hope you are feeling better. Thank you for sharing this experience with us!
A3So I called another friend and he gave me the emergency address for cases during the weekidge in Zurich. There finally I had a doctor and he told me to call an asylum where they would perhaps know me. For good luck this is not so difficult for me, so I called one rather close to me. There I met a psychiatrist and I could describe my symptoms and how it would have been come to. So he wrote for me a recipe and I could get the medications finally in Zurich after one hour turning there around, because the first pharmacy had not one of the medication in stock. For good luck we have in Zurich several pharmacies open 24h a day, 365 days a year. So could I fix in the meantime my little crisis, call back my psychiatrist and I feel myself after 5 hours stress finally better. So you see how important it is to stay connected with your doctor or to know other addresses to find rapidly real help. Take care of yourself.
