To your health...
A2It has een used since ancient times to treat many diseases, although generally it's not proved. It can interfer with other drugs that affect clotting (like aspirin), and also some other effects, so before you try it first consult your doctor.

Q. Can it be that I stopped being allergic to cats?

is it a miracle? I was allergic to cats in my childhood, and yesterday a friend cat jumped on me and nothing happened.
A1NO,IF NOTHING HAPPENED
A2Allergies can be cured. Check out NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). They have some very interesting techniques for removing allergies. The investment to you will be small in comparison to the joy you will have for being allergy free. No medication for the allergy cure.
A3i am allerigc to cats too. i always sneeze ang get red itchey eyes.

Q. Any alternative medication for cats allergy?

I also suffer from graves so I already take to many meds. anyone know of a good alternative treatment for cats allergy? My cat is my best friend- I don't want to lose it...
A1allergy to cats come from cat's skin dandruff that he sheds. there is some kind of substance there that your immune system recognize as foreign and dangerous (even though it's not) this cause an allergic reaction. hypoallergenic cat is a kind of a cat that doesn't have that material in his skin. the site i referred you to is selling those cats.
A2henrystar, what does that mean???
A3you can always get hypoallergenic cat!

Q. Is there any information out there regarding a severe allergy to cat scratches?

Is there any information out there regarding a severe allergy to cat scratches? I am not referring to "cat scratch fever" disease, but an allergy where the site of the scratch becomes swollen and red, and the person has hives and trouble breathing. Thanks so much!
A1Greetings Humble Earthling! It sounds like you have two or more things going on. First, cat scratch fever is caused by a parasite and comes on 1 to 2 weeks after the scratch. Allergic reactions are immediate.
Now, if the site of the scratch is swollen and red, that could be due to minor infection and just the process of healing.
A2that sounds...well...weird. usually allergies caused by cats are from it's dandruff not by it's scratches. this is why there are breathing problems (you breath cats' dandruff...yak...). so "allergy" to scratching would not present that way. is he allergic to cat's in general? are you sure it's not any kind of infection? this should be checked up by a doctor.
A3Cat scratches hurt! I know I have been scratched plenty! You can use peroxide to clean the scratch out and continue to wash with soap and water. As to the hives, that would be an allergic reaction to something that was on the cat's claw only if it happened right away. If it has been days, then you are probably reacting to something else. Same for the difficulty breathing. Anaphylactic shock would have occurred within minutes of the scratch.....long before it had time to become swollen and red. You have to keep in mind that just because one event follows another (the hives after the cat scratch) it does not mean that the first event caused the second. Keep the scratch clean and give it a few weeks to heal. If the hives and difficulty breathing (do you mean you are short of breath..or are you congested) continue.....get yourself to an immunologist or allergist.

Q. Is there a known connection between asthma and cat allergy?

I've been with asthma for many years now but usually get several attacks every year and they are caused from being around pine trees or when I'm with a cold- it also affects my breathing. Lately I get serious attacks after being in a house with a cat. I've never knew a cat allergy- I used to pat many and never got breathing difficulties as a result of a touch with them and lately it happends every time. Are cat a known asthma cause? can I do anything to prevent that? Can I maybe overcome it by being next to cats more often and getting myself used to it?
A1you may be becoming more sensitive to cats an other things--there are drugs on the market that you take everyday to control asthma/allergies--that can prevent you from even having an attack--i am a retired respriratory therpist/emt so i dont no about natural/chinese medicines---i will tell you this asthma can kill --donot try to treat yourself--i dont no what kind of dr you have but--go to a pulmonary DR. with asthma you have to take your meds everyday because skipping can cause you to be come more sensitive to allergens an can cause you to go into a bad attack---mrfoot56--feel better.
A2Lots of asthmatic people I know get attacks from cats. (as well as from pine trees, dust etc.)you should consult a doctor about what to take (for the breathing) though you shouls also try natural allergy treatment- chinese medicine can help here.
A3asthma is an allergic reaction of the bronchioles that can occur from any thing that can be inhaled: pollens, dust...and even cat dandruff. if you are allergic to anything ,that means you have a bigger chance of developing another allergy. so i guess that you are now allergic to cats also... congratulations..:)

Q. i knew i am allergic to cats , as a fact , is it passable that now i am not longer allergic to cats??? if so

i am going to get a cat right now !!!! :)
Awhat makes you think you are not right now? encountered a cat and didn't sneeze? i might check it up again before i get a cat.. there's a chance that your allergy is gone (a very very slim one if you are not having a desensitizing treatment)but don't get your hopes hight. if it disappeared- there a chanse it never was.
