Thiopentone sodium is one of the most widely drug in the induction of general anesthesia (Krauss and Green, 2000) and it is an ultra-short acting barbiturate, immediately after intravenous injection, thiopental rapidly reaches the CNS, and its effects become apparent within 15-30 sec and duration of anaesthesia is 10-20 min (Andaluz et al., 2012; Goldstein and Aronow, 1960).
A fitting, pregnant (27 weeks), hypertensive (220/11 mmhg), multiparous woman in coma had no further fits following treatment by a
thiopentone sodium drip, was conscious after about 17 hours, then was delivered of a dead foetus.
Propofol 3.5 mg/kg in comparison with propofol 2.5 mg/kg and
thiopentone sodium 5 mg/kg is effective in reducing the incidence and severity of succinylcholine induced fasciculations and myalgia.
