Increased emotionality and anxiety is associated with a decrease in locomotor activity and rearing, increased activity in the periphery versus the central part of the testing area (thigmotaxis), and defecation (see table 1).
The opposition reflex (scientifically named "thigmotaxis") causes him to lean forward, tighten his muscles and stand a little taller - all of which mimic an assertive, perhaps aggressive body posture in a dog.
This behavior is named thigmotaxis (Treit and Fundytus, 1988).
