When children's knowledge of the taxonomic category was held constant, children with smaller vocabularies learned as many words from taxonomically-organized storybooks as children with larger vocabularies.
By observing and analysing which groups of senses are offered as the most probable interpretations of each token, it is possible to determine in which cases the senses selected reflect a network of pragmatically and/or phylogenetically connected categories (Figures 3-5), rather than clustering around a single taxonomic category (Figure 2).
