I'd like you to get this checked out by your GP but it sounds to me like it may be something called Student's Elbow - or olecranon bursitis as it's formally known.
Olecranon bursitis, also termed "student's elbow," secondary to the inciting injury of chronic friction applied to a flexed elbow while studying, has numerous causes, including trauma, chronic repetitive micro-trauma and inflammatory diseases such as uric acid deposition in gout, extraarticular deposition of rheumatoid factor in rheumatoid arthritis and calcium pyrophosphate deposition, otherwise known as pseudogout.
They can happen in people who sit with their elbows on a chair or desk - hence why they are also known as student's elbow. They are usually painless unless they become inflamed in which case ice application and anti-inflammatory medicines are often necessary.
