[sfe″ro-fa´ke-ah] a developmental defect in which a smaller, more spherical optic lens than normal is formed, with partial or complete aplasia of the zonule.

A congenital, bilateral defect in which the crystalline lens is smaller and more spherical than normal. The zonule of Zinn may also be defective or absent.
