Antonio Hungaro Duarte, has summarized Radiopacity of portland cement associated with different radiopacifying agents (Table 4) [12] which prove that zinc oxide and oxide bismuth give some radiopacity of the material.
Radiopacity. Ten cylindrical samples were fabricated from each sealer by placing the handled sealers into metallic rings with 8 mm internal diameter and 1 mm thickness.
Physical and mechanical properties of composites including, compressive and flexural strength, wear resistance and hardness is mainly decided by the filler particle type, composition, size and weight percentage.2-6 Moreover, increasing the filler amount improves esthetics and imparts radiopacity, in addition to reduction of polymerization shrinkage and coefficient of thermal expansion.7-9 Multiple filler combinations have been employed in resin composites with varying compositions (silica, quartz and glass), configurations (micro and macro particles) and resin-filler ratio.
Regarding radiographic findings, Orthopantomogram (OPG) revealed presence of well defined radiopacity measuring approximately 3x2 cm in largest dimension in the right temporomandibular (TMJ) joint with loss of Condyler morphology [Fig 1].
Radiographically increased radiopacity of anterior nasal passage was observed.
In this case, the radiopacity visualized by radiographic examination represented the overlapping of the free fluid in the pleural space with the more radiopaque lung due to a possible edema, which was confirmed by a positive response to the treatment.
The other articles in this list had titles that were relatively uninformative ("A Fatal Case of Benzodiazepine Withdrawal"), and 3 titles appeared to be entirely unrelated to the others ("Radiopacity of Clomipramine Conglomerations and Unsuccessful Endoscopy: Report of 4 Cases," "Intoxication with a Tricyclic Antidepressant," and "Acute Poisoning by New Psychotropic Drugs").
In the present study, the record base was made by using VLC resin which not only had a lower shrinkage distortion than self-cured resin, [sup][24] but also had a similar radiopacity and density to that of the alveolar ridge bone.
Every radiograph taken during the treatment procedure revealed the presence of an unknown radiopacity in the periapical area of the teeth in concern.
