pyrolysis mass spectrometry
A type of mass spectrometry in which a pyrolysis source is interfaced with the mass spectrometer, and the sample is thermally decomposed (pyrolysis) in a reproducible fashion. The gaseous products formed are then analysed either as a mixture by mass spectrometry, or by GC/MS. The technique can be used to analyse otherwise nonvolatile samples.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
