pseudo-Reed-Sternberg cell

A histiocytoid cell which mimics the diagnostic Reed-Sternberg cells of Hodgkin lymphoma, and appears in various benign and malignant lesions.

Lineage of pseudo-Reed-Sternberg cells
Epithelial
Thymoma, breast and lung cancers.

Mesenchymal
Proliferative myositis, fibrosarcoma (malignant fibrous histiocytom(1)).

Hematopoietic
Infectious mononucleosis, CMV, rubeola, AIDS, myeloma, megakaryocytic hyperplasia, mycosis fungoides, nodular lymphoma-mixed-cell type, poorly differentiated lymphoma, melanoma.
