non·per·sis·tent a·gent
(non'pĕr-sis'tĕnt ā'jĕnt) A chemical agent that under given conditions of temperature, pressure, wind, and other variables remains in the environment for less than 1 day. Removal may be by evaporation or chemical decomposition. Examples include chlorine, phosgene, cyanide, and the G-series nerve agents.
