The companies said that Aplix will make the Ecrio IP communications capabilities available to Java developers through the Aplix JBlend Java platform, offering new MIDP 3.0 capabilities, such as idle screen midlets, inter-midlet communication and concurrency, while taking advantage of Ecrio's SIP/IMS framework and 'application empowerment' enhancements.
MIDlets allow you to locate much of an application's functionality on the device; it can retrieve data from the server efficiently, then perform calculations and display information locally.
