A highly toxic restricted carbamate-type agricultural pesticide used for alfalfa, oranges, apples, vegetables and spices; methomyl is a cholinesterase inhibitor with muscarinic effects which is toxic in humans. In high doses, it causes lacrimation, salivation, bronchospasm; at lower dosese, nausea, vomiting, dizziness
