The hallmark of the disease is calcium hydroxyapatite deposition into the tendinous insertions of the
longus colli musculature, a paired neck flexor, (1-3) which is not fully understood but thought to occur as a response to prior inflammation or infection, such as an upper respiratory infection, or trauma.

In one of our patients we found the palmaris
longus to be absent; in this case we used half of the flexor carpi radialis tendon as a suspension sling.
The Palmaris
longus muscle is completely developed at birth while fascia lata, also used in reconstructive surgery, is not so well developed at that age (4).
Results: The incidence of Palmaris
Longus absence was 24.5 % (an overall 16.7 % unilateral and 7.75% bilateral absence with Left sided absence being more common in the cohort).
The soleus and extensor digitorum
longus (EDL) muscles were dissected free from the surrounding connective tissue10,11.
Isolated reports of the involvement of peroneal, anterior tibial, posterior tibial and extensor hallucis
longus tendons are available (11-14).
Our method of reconstruction includes anchovy formed by Palmaris
longus and radial slip of flexible carpi radialis tendon after reconstructing the beak ligament mechanism.

The DF nerve also innervates the extensor hallucis
longus and extensor digitorum
longus muscles, which primarily extend the toes and dorsiflex the foot, predominantly in non-weight-bearing positions.

longus tendon completely."
