Interlobular ducts and small bile ducts are surrounded by a vascular plexus forming from irregularly distributing small round cavity-like capillary.
As the intercalated ducts are less in number most of the terminal alveoli are often quite elongated and open directly into the larger interlobular ducts at the periphery of the lobule.
Immunohistochemical typing of the lymphocytes reveals a predominance of CD[3.sup.+], CD[4.sup.+], and CD[8.sup.+] T lymphocytes in the inflammatory infiltrates surrounding the medium-sized and large interlobular ducts, with occasional invasion of the duct epithelium.
