PG addresses teachers, counsellors, chaplains and others with these words, "We share responsibility for bringing the truth of the Gospel to our young people, including young
homosexual students who are struggling with identity and self-worth." They back up this claim with strong and positive resources for teachers.
This, the largest section of items (twelve), measured the individual's personal beliefs and feelings toward
homosexuals. With regard to human rights, seven people felt that
homosexuals are not a viable part of society (five were neutral); four felt that
homosexuals should not be accepted into society (five were neutral); eight felt there should be restrictions on homosexuality (eight were neutral); ten felt it would not be beneficial for society to recognize homosexuality as normal (five were neutral); and three felt that
homosexuals should not be given social equality (four were neutral).
Second, neither is it true to say that because
homosexual orientation or desire is not sought but a given, probably even innate, it is then created by God and can be gratified without sin.
In particular, they cite a June 2003 document from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome regarding the legal recognition of
homosexual unions, which states for a Catholic lawmaker to vote in favor of allowing such unions would be "gravely immoral." It also reiterates the church's position that homosexuality is "objectively disordered." Most appalling to those who minister to gay and lesbian Catholics is a statement about
homosexual couples adopting children that says, "Allowing children to be adopted by persons living in such unions would actually mean doing violence to these children."
While complying with any state laws which directly affect its placements, each agency must adopt policies that reflect what is known about the effects on children of being raised by a
homosexual individual or, where permitted by law, a same-sex couple.
In her 1994Pedialrics magazine article "Are Children at Risk for Sexual Abuse by
Homosexuals?" Carole Jenny found that 94 percent of molested girls and 86 percent of molested boys were abused by men.
It stated inter alia: "Those who would move from tolerance to the legitimisation of specific rights for cohabiting
homosexual persons need to be reminded that approval or legislation of evil is something far different from the toleration of evil.
He will be unable to persuade American
homosexuals to rise up and rebel against hidden law and its Main Street codes of behavior.
Leaders of the Christian Reconstructionist movement, which advocates imposing the Old Testament's legal code on the United States, argue that
homosexual acts should merit the death penalty.
Further, since the associates of
homosexual parents are also apt to be disproportionately
homosexual, the social-psychological environment a
homosexual parent could provide would appear less child-oriented than it would be among conventional parents.
The familiar stereotype that gays are promiscuous and immoral, for instance, would not stand if the country regularly saw
homosexual marriages.
