The practice of gynaecology in a non-traditional fashion; integral to the philosophy of alternative gynaecology is the use of herbs and vitamins to address a woman’s gynaecologic needs, an increased ratio of vaginal to caesarean deliveries, the use of imagery and visualisation for reducing pain and the need for anaesthetics, bodywork and massage for recuperation from delivery, as well as other alternative methods (See Alternative birthing center, Alternative, Alternative medicine, Doula, Lamaze technique, Naturopathic obstetrics, Menstrual extraction).
