1. the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, Δ or δ; used in chemical names to denote the fourth of a series of isomeric compounds or the carbon atom fourth from the carboxyl group, or to denote the fourth of any series.

If the derivative and the hedged item are not very similar, the regression method will be superior, if the variance-minimizing hedge ratio deviates materially from -1 and is stable over time.
He confused his pipeline delta, or hedge ratio, with his expected closing ratio.
To achieve this purpose the hedger has to determine the optimal hedge ratio. The optimal hedge ratio has usually been found by regressing the returns to holding spot asset on the returns to holding the hedging instruments.
