** (#) denotes P < 0.001 before and after stimulation in the insula cortex, while ** and * denote P < 0.001 and P < 0.05, respectively, between the OSA model and different stimulation frequencies in the
habenula.
Washington, July 29 ( ANI ): A recent study has identified the half-pea-sized human brain portion called
habenula, which tracks negative expectations like painful electric shocks and shows how bad things could get.
MCs have been identified in perivascular areas of leptomeninges, hippocampus,
habenula, and thalamus [143, 144] which has led to speculation of a possible contribution of these cells in regulating the trafficking of immune cells through the BBB [145,146].
But like tourists exploring a strange city without a GPS map, scientists don't know how all the neural neighborhoods are connected and occasionally encounter surprising enclaves--such as a place in the brain called the lateral
habenula.
Hypothalamic, dorsal raphe and external electrical stimulation modulate noxious evoked responses of
habenula neurons.

They are linked by the fasciculus retroflexus, a cholinergic projection from the medial
habenula to the IPN.
