GI disease The inability to vomit and/or 'degas' after gastric fundoplication for reflux esophagitis, a complication of the Nissen repair of a hiatal hernia, a procedure that corrects 96% of esophageal reflux; bloating is attributed to vagal injury. See Nissen repair.
