flight of colours
The temporal sequence of after-images of different colours that follow a brief exposure to a bright source of light. It is most easily seen in dark-adapted eyes. The duration of the sequence is much shorter or absent in some patients with retrobulbar optic neuritis or multiple sclerosis.
