The insertion cord is the flexible part of the fibrescope that is inserted into the patient's airway and endotracheal tubes are railroaded over.
An important detail of the latter study is that in 22% of all intubations, the initial attempt at intubation was performed by the most experienced physicians using a fibrescope or a Glidescope[R] (Verathon Medical, Rennerod, Germany).
The final balloon positioning and inflation were confirmed with a fibrescope. The right main bronchus was rather short and some 20% of the EB had to be left above the carina.
Other devices or procedural factors that hamper the insertion of the endotracheal tube over a fibrescope include the airway intubator, cricoid pressure or jaw thrusting (19).
The fibrescope can then be advanced from the machine's end and the trainee tries to exit via the Murphy eye using a rotation movement.
After two minutes of mask ventilation, a 4.1 mm OD fibrescope (Olympus LF-GP; Olympus Optical, Tokyo, Japan) was passed orally to intubate the trachea.
In this descriptive study a fibrescope was used to assess the site and mechanism of tracheal tube impingement during advancement over a variety of fibreoptic bronchoscopes and introducers during orotracheal intubation in anaesthetized adults.
A mask that accommodates upper airway application of local anaesthetic, and intubation of the trachea with a fibrescope and a tracheal tube whilst maintaining continuous positive pressure-augmented breathing is under development by our team.
Foreign donors provided basic equipment like bomb disposal suits, X-ray machine for scanning, fibrescopes and a water disruptor.
