double-focusing mass spectrometer

A mass spectrometer which has magnetic and electric analysers combined in a specified geometrical configuration in order to ac-complish both direction and velocity focusing of an ion beam from an ion source. DFMS provides a higher resolution and more accurate mass measurements of ions.
