A remarkable finding of our study was the observation of the highest HDRS scores in the patients with
double depression and the lowest scores in the patients with pure dysthymia.
The data reported by Keller cover treatment for 89 individuals with chronic major depression and 123 with
double depression. Most had attended college, yet about 30 percent had no job.
Sometimes, women with dysthymia also suffer from episodes of major depression, a condition known as
double depression.
