(chē′mō-lĭth′ō-ô′tə-trŏf′, -trōf′, kĕm′ō-)
n.
A chemosynthetic organism that obtains energy from the oxidation of inorganic compounds and uses carbon dioxide as its sole source of carbon for growth. Also called chemoautotroph, chemolithotroph.
