The temporal bones were fixed, decalcified, and embedded in
celloidin. Sections were then cut at a thickness of 20 [micro]m, and every tenth section was stained with hematoxylin and eosin and examined under light microscopy.
Tissue fragments were dehydrated through an ethanol series, placed in
celloidin blended with castor oil and then in chloroform, and embedded in paraffin.
The pieces are sealed in
celloidin -- the liver-colored blobs of brain rimmed by gold wax.
