cartilage oligomeric matrix protein

a member of the trombospondin gene family, it is expressed at high levels in the matrix of chondrocytes. Mutations in the cartilage oligomeric matrix protein gene, COMP, [MIM*600310], result in pseudoachondroplasia and multiple epiphysial dysplasia.
