[24.] Gibbs K, Walshe JM (1979) A study of the
caeruloplasmin concentrations found in 75 patients with Wilson's disease, their kinships and various control groups.
Ceruloplasmin is one of the so called acute phase reactants which increase non-specifically in response to acute inflammation and it seems very likely that in our patients raised serum copper was a secondary result of high levels of
caeruloplasmin rather than a primary disturbance of copper metabolism.

Blood was sent away for analysis of serum copper and
caeruloplasmin. Both levels were reported as zero (below detection limits), and a repeat sample was requested to confirm the findings.
In this case the patient had negative viral serology and a normal ferritin and
caeruloplasmin but her positive autoantibodies raise the possibility of autoimmune hepatitis.
Caeruloplasmin and green plasma in women taking oral contraceptives, in pregnant women, and in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
ANA, HIV, VDRL, serum
caeruloplasmin levels, serum [B.sub.12] level, thyroid function tests were normal.
