Colonies were 1-2 mm in diameter, gray, smooth, and
butyrous. A Gram stain of these colonies identified gramvariable, pleomorphic coccobacilli that were negative for catalase, oxidase, urease, and citrate, and did not produce indole or reduce nitrate.
