Bromate water offers people with kidney conditions a hydration solution that avoids
bromate completely, tastes like regular water, and is one of the purest drinking applications available today, which also makes it suitable for pregnant women.

bromate formation during ozonation of bromide-containing waters: oxidation with (a) [O.sub.3] and (b) O[H.sup.*] [1].
The bromine concentration was reduced due to the adsorption processes after AOPs (Asami et al., 1999; Bao et al., 1999; Kiristis et al., 2000) however it the relatively low level of elimination of bromine could be caused by the presence of a high DO in the solution because of the ozonation process, which restricts the adsorption of
bromate in AC (Kiristis et al., 2001).
Additionally, the Food regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) has decided to remove potassium
bromate from the list of permitted additives while it is examining evidence against potassium iodate before restricting its use.
Literature issued by the US health authority states that
Bromate is produced when ozone is used to disinfect drinking water, which
Decomposition of
bromate in fermenting and nonfermenting doughs, Cereal Chem.
Genetic studies have revealed that mutants in niaD (the structural gene for NR) gene and the nrtA gene (the structural gene for nitrate transporter) have shown high resistance to chlorate; the toxic analogue to nitrate, but not to
bromate; the toxic analogue to nitrite (Tomsett and Cove, 1979; Brownlee and Arst, 1983; Kanan, 2002; Kanan, et al., 2002).
One held sodium
bromate - a hazardous material used in dyes but pollution fears abated as it is soluble in water.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates the amount of four disinfection byproducts--THMs, HAA5,
bromate, and chlorite--found in drinking water.
The bromide can be converted into the
bromate (Br[O.sub.3.sup.-]) during water purification process with ozone as a disinfecting agent.
The cafe worker admitted allowing potassium
bromate to be taken by her husband, two daughters, her grandfather and a colleague.
