boarding out
A UK term referring to the occupation of a borrowed bed by an inpatient (the “boarder”), which is managed by a consultant or team of consultants outside of the main allocated inpatient area for that consultant, or to a patient specialty transferred to any non-inpatient bedded area (e.g., day units). Such patients are said to have been “boarded out”.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
