consensual validation the confirmation of reality by comparison of one's own perceptions and concerns with those of others, including the recognition and modification of distortions.

validation

(1) The process of establishing the suitability of a mechanism or system to performing a particular task. 
(2) The use of documented evidence to assure that specific systems or processes will consistently produce a product meeting predetermined specifications and quality attributes.

Validation requires planning measurement parameters and evaluation of fitness for purpose, followed by executing the plan and documenting the results.
