batch processing

Chemistry
The analysis of clinical specimens in a grouped “run”, which contrasts with the more labour-intensive testing of individual specimens.
 
Microbiology
The induction of bacterial growth in a closed-system bioreactor with a specific amount of nutrients; once nutrients are consumed, the system is drained of product and bacteria and a new “batch” of bacteria and nutrients are placed in the system.

A traditional batch system is used to pro duce a stable masterbatch, without curing agents, which are then added in a co-rotating twin screw extruder to improve the mixing conditions of this fundamental ingredient (figure 7).
Thermosyphon systems have three distinct advantages over batch systems. First, because a solar collector is used for the purpose of extracting heat from the sun (rather than a batch tank), solar-heated water can be stored inside a well-insulated tank.
